We are starting to put things back together so we can open the doors next week. We won't be completely finished by then, so the work will still be going on.
Here, Tina is doing some cleaning at the Reception Desk.
And the Reception Desk is put back together with the new carpet under.
And the carpet is down and waitng for the Information Desk to be put back.
We are now in the second week of being closed. Here's what happened last week:
The non-fiction area was moved, carpeted and restored to order.
The fiction area was moved and carpeted. Shelves and books are being put back today, Monday, the 27th.
The Junior League Program Room was carpeted.
Many first floor walls including those in the cafe were painted.
This week we are starting in the new books and AV area. All the shelving has been moved and the carpet pulled up.
The bad news is that it is doubtful that the first floor will be completed by Sept. 4. We will open anyway, but some areas will not be accessible and some services may not be available. Watch this blog for updates and thank you for your patience.
First order of business was moving all the computers! Thanks to our IT department from the city in completing this task! Of course, they will have to be moved again, one or two more times. Sorry IT department.
Then, of course, the books will have to be taken off the shelves in order to move the shelves. It looks like this system will work out pretty well.
And then there is painting, and moving stuff and ripping up carpet!
And we are waiting for the new carpet to arrive.
Which has arrived now!!
But we are still working and attending to other library tasks as well.
And the coffee shop Dewey's is open for business! So come on down and listen to the noise, peek through the gate, and enjoy the many refreshments and nourishments that Dewey's has to offer.
The book drop will be open for customers to return items. The drive-up window will be open normal hours, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. If a patron needs material, call 344-4175 and the staff will try to locate it for you and place it at the drive-up window for you to check out. In addition, the staff will try to answer telephone and email reference questions.
On August 31 the staff will be away from the library for an In-Service Training. The drive up window will not be open nor will there be telephone reference that day.
Dewey’s Café will be open from 7:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday while the library is closed. They will close completely September 1 through September 3.The library will reopen Tuesday, September 4 at 9:00 a.m. Carpeting will still be occurring on the second floor though September 14.
