Building Common Ground: Discussions of Community, Civility, and Compassion is the name of a grant thirty libraries in the United States received from the American Library Association and Fetzer Institute. The Bettendorf Public Library is one of those and we have developed a grand array of programs and events along with our organization partner River Action. Click on the heart-shaped “Building Common Ground” symbol on the Library’s homepage to get a list of what’s going on as well as the entry forms and rules for all the water-themed contests we’re sponsoring for youth and adults (poetry, essays, songwriting, and photography).
In an effort to involve the community, we’re also seeking people who will share their collections in the library showcases during September and October. We would like them to have something to do with water–and that can be almost anything from seashells to model boats to duck decoys.
If you’d like to share your collection, please contact Hedy at 563-344-5705.
