Get your knitting on – this Thursday the 24th!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Hey, what’s going on?!  I had a bunch of people ask me for a Creation Studio program on knitting, I scheduled it, and now we don’t have many people signed up.  It’s going to be a great program – these women not only know how to teach knitting (they taught a class for teens here a few years back and it was great), but they know how to have fun.  Don’t miss out!  Call 563-344-4175 to sign up or click here.

Fly Tying and other art

Fly Tying

So when we decided to try this new program series called Creation Studio, I was thinking we would cover the arts.  You know painting, sculpting, etc.  But then we thought about it some more and realized we were being too narrow-minded.  Who am I to say what is art, anyway?  So we expanded it to arts, crafts and hobbies.  After all, a finely crafted object, no matter the medium, can be a true expression of art.

So maybe fly tying isn’t your cup of tea, maybe you haven’t considered it as an art form.  No matter.  Come along to Creation Studio: Fly Tying on June 24 and decide for yourself.  The fly that Del Nelson and other members of the Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association will be showing us is a hummingbird fly, like in the picture.  It’s a pretty, delicate thing and Del says he knows some women who have made earrings out of them!  Now that would be a conversation-starter.

You can also put it in a clear glass ball and make a great ornament for Christmas giving.

Come on, people.  Sign up for this free program. Maybe you haven’t thought of fly tying as an art to experiment with, but Creation Studio is all about trying something new.  Or maybe I should say tying something new.  (Ha! See what I did there?  I kill me.)
