Discovery Fair!

By David Otten

Adventurers of all ages will have the opportunity to squeeze the last bit of fun out of summer on Saturday, August 18th at Bettendorf’s Discovery Fair. The Learning Campus, which is comprised of The Bettendorf Public Library, Family Museum, and Faye’s Field, will hold the Fair from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This annual event is supported by the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation and provides a wide range of opportunities to discover new experiences and interests.

This year’s Discovery Fair is presented by Quad City Bank and Trust with additional sponsorship provided Pleasant Valley Dentistry. Their support makes this family-friendly day entirely free.  This year there will be classes and experiences on creating balloon sculptures, doing face painting, water colors, drawing, making rock candy, magic, rock identification, Native American culture, DIY crafts and more. There will be a petting zoo and even hovercraft rides for children under 100 lbs. These experiences are presented either as a half-hour class that is repeated throughout the day or on a drop-in basis. No registration is required for the Discovery Fair.
