Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library
The Friends are members of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Bettendorf Public Library. The Friends contribute to the purchase of books and materials, to Library programs for adults and children, and to other expenditures beyond the Library's budget.

Funds are raised through an annual membership drive, two Book Fairs each year, collection of used books and magazines for re-sale, owning
and operating a copier for Library patrons, and an annual Holiday Bazaar.

Meetings are held monthly at the Library, September through June, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

For more information about volunteering with the Friends, contact the Bettendorf Public Library Volunteer Coordinator. For questions about the book fairs or bazaar, contact the Administrative Assistant.

Friends memberships can be purchased at the Book Fairs, or at the Service Desk at the Library.  The application can be also downloaded for printing here and mailed to the Library at 2950 Learning Campus Dr, Bettendorf, IA  52722.  Individual memberships are $5 and a family membership is $10.

Current Friends News

Sooner than you think, fall will be upon us, and the Friends will be working on providing another successful Book Sale.  Mark your calendars for October 6, 7, and 8.  Some of the best book buys in town will be available at bargain prices.  There is a price change coming this fall with most books available at the price of 75¢ each.  Even with this small increase, the cost of good condition books can’t be beat!  The Members’ Preview Sale is held on Friday evening, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  If you are not already a member, you may purchase a membership prior to the preview sale or at the door on the evening of the sale.  An individual membership costs $5 and a family membership is $10.  Joining the Friends is an affordable way to support the library, as well as having the privilege of attending the preview sales.

Another event for 2017 is the Friends Holiday Bazaar which will be held on Saturday, November 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Mark it on your calendar as a great pre-holiday shopping event.  There is no charge to attend.  Local vendors provide a variety of interesting items and products for sale.  Letters to interested vendors will be sent out in late September.  If you would like to be included in this mailing, or would like more information about the event, call 563-344-4177 or email gbarrett@bettendorf.org. Do you have magazines or good condition books that you no longer need, but hate to throw away? Donate them to the Friends. The ongoing magazine sale and twice a year book fairs are always in need of gently used materials. Items may be deposited any of the open hours of the library in the alcove located near the entrance to the café. The next Friends meeting will be Tuesday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the library. Meetings are usually about an hour long. Whether you are a current member of the Friends or not, consider attending a meeting and see what the Friends do to support the library.">gbarrett@bettendorf.org.
