Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library
The Friends are members of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Bettendorf Public Library. The Friends contribute to the purchase of books and materials, to Library programs for adults and children, and to other expenditures beyond the Library's budget.

Funds are raised through an annual membership drive, two Book Fairs each year, collection of used books and magazines for re-sale, owning
and operating a copier for Library patrons, and an annual Holiday Bazaar.

Meetings are held monthly at the Library, September through June, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

For more information about volunteering with the Friends, contact the Bettendorf Public Library Volunteer Coordinator. For questions about the book fairs or bazaar, contact the Administrative Assistant.

Friends memberships can be purchased at the Book Fairs, or at the Service Desk at the Library.  The application can be also downloaded for printing here and mailed to the Library at 2950 Learning Campus Dr, Bettendorf, IA  52722.  Individual memberships are $5 and a family membership is $10.

Current Friends News

Calling all magazine subscribers!  The Friends are looking for gently used magazines you no longer wish to keep, but don’t want to throw away.  The Friends ongoing magazine sale is a great recycling program providing people who have magazines to recycle an outlet, and providing people that would like to give those magazines a new home a chance to purchase them.

Donations of both magazines and books may be placed in the bins in the alcove near the entrance to Dewey’s Café during Library hours.

In October, the Friends held a very successful Fall Book Fair, netting over $10,000.  The Friends are most appreciative to the Friends volunteers who help with the Book Fair, those people who donate the materials that make the sale possible, and the customers that attend the sale and purchase the materials.  All of these components are necessary to make the sale a success.

The November 4th Holiday Bazaar broke a record for number of table spaces sold.  There were 58 spaces this year.  Each table space sold for $25, which netted nearly $1,500 for the Friends.

The Friends are proud to play a role in providing funding for the Library, always striving to increase their fundraising dollars in order to afford even more contributions to the Library.  The Friends rely on the generosity of Library patrons and local community members to support their many efforts.

If you are a current member, or have been in the past, you will receive a letter in February for the membership drive.  Hopefully, you will consider joining the Friends for the 2018 year.  If you are not a member and would like to support the Friends, information on joining is always available at the Library.

The Friends meet the first Tuesday of each month from September through June, at 7:00 p.m. in the Library.  Whether you are a member or not, please consider attending a meeting to see how this small working group of people manages to provide big dollars for the Library.
