Fees and Fines

Fees

The majority of services provided by the Bettendorf Public Library Information Center are free. Exceptions are:

Printing

Color printing: 25¢ a page.
Black and white printing: the first 5 pages per day are free. Additional pages are 10¢ per page.

Formatted disks
Flash drives

Interlibrary Loan

A fee of $1.00 for processing interlibrary loan requests for items not available through PALS.

Other fees are charged to discourage practices which increase the cost of library operations:

Interlibrary Loans that are unclaimed

A $1.00 fee is charged for an interlibrary loan or hold that is not picked up by the patron within three days of being notified.

Lost Cards

A $5.00 fee is charged to replace a lost borrower's card.

Lost or Damaged Barcode

A $1.00 fee is charged for an item returned with lost or damaged barcode.

Overdue Materials

The library resorts to a collection agency when overdue notices and bill notices are ignored. Patrons whose records are turned over to a collection agency are changed the $10.00 fee that the agency charges the library.

Lost Materials

The patron is charged the generic or list price plus a $10.00 processing fee. Lost magazines cost $4.00 each with a $5.00 processing fee. Pamphlets, J*, YA paperbacks, and board books cost the generic price, or list price with a $5.00 processing fee.

Damaged Materials

A $10.00 rebinding fee is charged for major damage to a book which can be rebound. Patrons are assessed the replacement price plus a $10.00 processing fee for damaged books which cannot be rebound. For major damage to most types of materials (audio, magazines, etc.), the patron is charged the replacement price plus processing fee or repair cost. Other damage or loss costs are:

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms are available during all scheduled open hours, Monday - Saturday. Fees for use of meeting rooms are:

City of Bettendorf meeting: no charge
Non-profit groups/non fee based programs: $5 per meeting per room
For profit groups and fee based programs: $25 per hour per room

A charge of $50.00 per hour or any portion thereof will be made for use of meeting rooms before or after library hours. Organizations needing set-up/tear-down assistance may request services at a charge of $20.00 per hour. (See Meeting Room Policy and Regulations for more details.)

Exam Proctoring

Patrons may arrange to have exams proctored by the Information Desk staff. See the Exam Proctoring Policy. There is a $5.00 fee per exam for non-residents.

Audio/Visual Equipment

A/V equipment may be scheduled for use in the meeting rooms. There is a $5.00 per meeting fee.

Fines

Fines are 10¢ per day per item, with the exception of reference materials which are $5.00 per day per item.
