Information Desk Services

Information Desk

A professionally trained librarian is on duty at the Information Desk during all the Library's open hours. The librarians are happy to answer your questions in person, by phone at (563) 344-4179 or via e-mail . Staff will fax brief information in response to reference questions to Bettendorf residents at no charge.

Getting items that are checked out or not owned by our Library

If the Bettendorf Public Library does not own the item you are looking for, you can request that we purchase the item, or you may borrow the item from another library.

You may ask Information Desk Staff by phone - (563) 344-4179 - or by e-mail to reserve items that the Library owns which are currently checked out or items owned by another local library. You may also request a hold yourself using the My Account feature in our online catalog.

My Account

This password-protected account lets you place your own holds or renew your items on any computer with Internet access. With an account you can ask that items from other PALS libraries be sent here or to another library of your choice. As with any interlibrary loan, some items may not be available for loan outside of the owning library.

My Account gives you the ability to view your own library record. You can see what you have checked out; check for overdues, fines, or bills; see what items you have on hold.

You can use your My Account online via the PrairieCat. If you have difficulty using any of these patron functions, please call the Information Desk at (563) 344-4179.

Interlibrary Loan

If the item you want is not available at a PALS library, Bettendorf Public Library cardholders can request that staff search further for it. There is a $1 charge for this service. Similar services are available to residents of other Quad-Cities communities at their hometown libraries.
