Bettendorf Public Library Information Center

Welcome to the Electronic Branch of the Bettendorf Public Library. These resources are available to Bettendorf Library cardholders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week wherever there is internet access. These are subscription only databases paid with funds from the Bettendorf Library, the Bettendorf Library Foundation and the Friends of the Bettendorf Library. For most databases, your password is your Bettendorf Library card number.

Alphabetical Listing of Databases

America's Newspapers
The electronic editions of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. Paid ads are excluded.

Antiques Reference Database
p4a Antiques Reference gives prices for a wide variety of antiques. Information in the database is drawn from about fifty leading regional auction houses located throughout the United States, plus other selected specialist auctions.

Business & Company Resource Center
Business and Company Resource Center provides up-to-date business, company and industry information for more than 300,000 companies.

Contemporary Authors
Contemporary Authors provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors.

Contemporary Literary Criticism Select
Contemporary Literary Criticism Select contains critical essays and biographical information on more than 600 authors that are now living or have died since January 1, 2000. There is an emphasis on authors studied in high school and college literature courses.

EBSCOhost - Broad range of periodical databases
EBSCOhost is an online system offering access to a wide variety of full-text and bibliographic databases. The Library Foundation pays for this subscription.

Encyclopedia Americana
Encyclopedia Americana contains over 45,000 articles and is targeted at grades 8 and above.
The Friends of the Bettendorf Library pay for this subscription.

Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia
Grolier Encyclopedia is based on the Academic American Encyclopedia and is targeted at grades 5 and above. The Friends of the Bettendorf Library pay for this subscription.

Health & Wellness Resource Center
Health and Wellness Resource Center offers access to authoritative health information, including full-text medical encyclopedias, several hundred medical and general interest periodicals, and more than 800 pamphlets.

HeritageQuest Online
A growing collection of research materials for tracing family history and American culture with over 25,000 family and local histories, the entire U.S. Federal Census, and other expanding collections.

Kids Search
Kids Search is designed especially for youth in grades K-5 - powered by EBSCOhost.

Lands and Peoples Online
Lands and Peoples is an encyclopedia of countries, cultures, geography and current events around the world. The Friends of the Bettendorf Library pay for this subscription.

LearningExpressLibrary.com
Provides online practice tests for all kinds of exams including ACT, SAT, Civil Service exams, ASVAB, U.S. Citizenship and more. There are also tests to improve your reading, writing, math or grammar skills.

Literature Resource Center
Literature Resource Center contains biographical and critical information on literary figures from all time periods. Both fiction and nonfiction authors are included in this current and comprehensive database.

Morningstar
Get stock and mutual fund quotes, research reports and tools for making better investing and 401k decisions. The Library Foundation pays for this subscription.

netLibrary is a collection of electronic books, making it possible for you to access a wide range of research, reference, and reading materials online.

Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated contains 95,000 biographies and more than 26,000 photographs of the subjects.
