Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
This book deserves 1 starsstars.
"Don't get me wrong, I love a good vampire book, but this novel was one of the worst I have ever read. The plot was predictable- of course the vampires were Edward and the outcasts in school who everyone was afraid of. Even though there was nothing remotely special or interesting about the main character, Bella, somehow it seems that every male who comes in contact with her falls in love. No plot or problem is introduced until the last hundred pages. The events range from Bella tripping, Edward saving her, Bella almost getting hit by a car, Edward saving her. See a pettern emerging? The only character who had a personality was Jacob- the werewolf. The title has nothing to do with the book. Meyers focuses and repeats the same exact description on almost every page- eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes. Putting a unique spin or twist on vampires is fine-for example, having them fly, grow more powerful with age, read thoughts, etc. However, every vampire book still holds !

true to one main fact-that vampires can't go in sunlight! Because, after all, they're VAMPIRES! In Twilight, the only repurcussion for stepping out into the sun is glowing and glittering. Overall, the book is a total cliche and a complete waste of time. It's popularity definitely procedes it. "

Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith
This book deserves 1 starsstars.
This book follows the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." I was fooled by the eye-catching cover to think that the book was good, but I came to find that it was possibly the worse thing I have ever read. The ending was predictable. I knew within the first three chapters that the villain was going to be... (Remaining review redacted so as not to give away the ending. Sorry, Ruby.)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This book deserves 5 starsstars.
This book has been my favorite since I first picked it up five years ago. A boy named Charlie is entering his first year in high school and dealing with the recent suicide of his only friend. He has to struggle with growing up, finding love, making friends, and realizing who he is and where he wants to go. It's about conquering passivity and really participating in life. Chbosky leads readers into a vivid, realistic world full of heart-breaking events, thoughtful insights, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have never since come across a book that has meant more, or even made me feel half the way that Perks does. I truly believe that readers will never be the same after they read this novel. I wanted to hold it inside. I promise whoever reads it will not be disappointed.

Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer
This book deserves 1 starsstars.
If there was an option of giving negative stars, I would. Anyone who has read quality literature like from Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, or Kevin Brooks, knows that this series is nothing to be amazed with. The main character is flat and has no real personality. Everything is cliche and predictable. The character's backgrounds aren't told until the third book in the series. The word "eyes" can be found on every page at least once. And I don't know about you, but if I found out my friend was a vampire, I would not respond with something like "Oh really? That's cool. I'm going to google vampires to see what you are really about." And my personal favorite, when vampires go out in the sunlight, they shimmer. They glitter and sparkle! It can't get any more queer than that.

A Model Crime by Carolyn Keene
This book deserves 4 starsstars.
This was a great Nancy Drew File! It was really interesting, especially if you are a girl. It had lots of details, and everything was described so well that you could actually picture everything in your mind. The plot is about how Nancy's best friend Bess gets into the finals of a modeling competition. Nancy goes with her to Chicago, but in each photo shoot someone is sabotaged except for one girl. However, at the end it is not the person that you think it is who is guilty. THis is a fast read and a fun read, for someone wanting something light. It is a great mystery, so mystery-lovers watch for this book!

Love Notes by Carolyn Keene
This book deserves 4 starsstars.
All Nancy Drew books are good in my "book", but for young adults the Nancy Drew Files are more modern and relatable. Love Notes was about a piano competition, and how the main contestants were each attacked and almost weren't able to compete in the finals. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. However, there is danger, blackmail and lots of mystery. It is always fun to try to figure out who is the culprit before the end. I would recommend this and any other Nancy Drew book to mystery lovers, especially girls.

This book had me from the very beginning to do its exciting outlook without the pish-posh of a slow novel beginning. I gave this book 5 stars because it deserves it; Jude Watson did an excellent job in the character development of Gracie. She appeared oddly normal so we could relate to her-however unique in her special premonitions. I would recommend this to young women though because i think young men would find this somewhat boring.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

The second book to the Harry Potter series is just as exciting as the first one. In this book, Harry, Ron and Hermoine really had to compromise and solve the myth about the Chamber of Secrets. The book was like real magic and every little detail was very interesting and made me want to read more. My favorite part was when the students went to see the duel between Professor Snape and Professor Lockhart. The suprising part was when they found out that Ginny Weasley was the first one to open up the secret Chamber. The sad part was when Harry and Ron saw their best friend---Hermoine was petrified. The most scary part was when Harry first heard the voices of the snake and saw words written in blood on the wall.

This book is a reallly heartwarming, exciting, fascinating book about bravery, courage, and friendship. It touches the reader's heart by the characters' charming and funny dialogues, and it tells people about how love and courage can do the most amazing things. There were sad parts also, but they blended in with the happy ones and make the scenes come to life in front of me. My favorite part is the fisrt Quiddich game and when Harry got the snitch. The scariest part was when Harry , Ron and Hermoine go down the trap door and faces Voldemort himself.

The author didn't make the chapters go too long or explain too much, and each chapter made me love the dog it was about. I took one star off because it was sometimes written like Gary Paulson was talking which seemed too easy in some parts.

I understand The Shadow Histories is this author’s first novel and is from someone clearly used to handling complex ideas. A Murti Schofield’s pedigree as writer of Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness shows. A.O.D. is widely acknowledged as the game with the best story of the famous franchise and I have to say that for my money The Shadow Histories, as a multi-layered, multi-strand adventure knocks chunks off anything Lara could ever get up to. The Shadow Histories is in many ways comparable to Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy whilst staking out its own unique territory and being distinctly and powerfully its own animal. The characters, creatures, plot line and incidental concepts stay with you; the action burns bright in the memory with a cinematic clarity and power. I loved it. Check it out.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
This book deserves 5 starsstars.
I really liked this book, I only wish I could have given it more stars. It's about this girl who goes to stay with her father in Forks, Washington (her parents are divorced). Her life is very dull until she meets a very good-looking boy. He saves her live countless times (she's very clumsy) and she begins to fall in love with him. Then he reveals a very big secret about him and his family: they're all vampires. (Librarian's note: The sequel to this is coming out in September).

This book is packed full of interesting science laws and theories. The author is very well educated on the topic of genetics, and how that affects us in our actions today. Any teens interested in biology would love this book. I would not recommend this book to people who are not interested in science because it can get kind of confusing if you don't already have some background knowledge of genetics.

A Mango-shaped Space by Wendy Mass
This book deserves 5 starsstars.
It's educational. Also it has things from every day life, like friendship, death, boyfriend/girlfriend, pets, pet loss, and other things of the sort. Mia, the main charecter, was very much like a normal kid, all except for one thing, which I can't tell because it would give the book away. She says she is the most normal one in her family, her brother keeps track of all of the McDonald's hamburgers he's eaten, her dad cries through the Hallmark commercails, and her mom is so clean that it isn't normal. And she has her own problem.
