Twilight: Nerdposium Recap
Twilight Nerdposium Recap
The Twilight Vampire Blood Corn (red caramel corn) was a real big hit. Click here for the recipe.
We watched the official trailer only a gazillion times, dissecting every scene and comparing them with the book. Here are some of the things we noticed and were concerned about:
- Jasper is ugly. His hair should be shorter.
- Emmett in track suit = HOT (A photo from an Entertainment Weekly article we discussed.)
- Edward’s hair isn’t right and his skin color is to gray.
- Bella is too pale, and Edward isn’t pale enough. Some though Bella should have been played by Alexis Bledel (for reals?). Kristan Stewart is to snobby about lines and the tone of the film (in regards to the Entertainment Weekly article).
- We were also concerned about the additions and alterations of scenes not from the book, such as how there is no jumping out of a window scene, nor is there a report of a dead guy scene with Charlie.
Finally the scenes from Twilight were are most looking forward to are:
- The baseball game
- Bella’s first visit to the Cullen house
- All the fancy cars
- And anything to do with James (especially when Bella becomes infected and must be somehow saved or else will be turned into a vampire)
We discussed the possibility of having a Twilight book group. We thought we could meet weekly and have assigned chapters to read. Let me know what you think of this idea in the comments.
Finally we watched spoof Twilight trailers. Here was the best one:

Anime Club Contest
Anime Music Video Contest
It’s time to put your movie making skills to use! Anime Club is hosting a Anime Music Video Contest. Here is a video made by Dalton explaining all the rules. Text of the rules are also below the video. What is an AMV? Check out this link for further info.
Submitting starts October 3rd. The dead-line for submissions is November 5th, and the winners will be chosen on the 6th of November at Anime Club
Rules:
- 1 person can submit only 3 AMVs Maximum
- Each AMV must at least be 1 minute in length. The max time for one AMV is 5 minutes.
- You can either do a traditional AMV, a parody video, or a fan-dub
- The content in the video/audio must be PG-13 or lower
- A list of the anime used and the audio must be put in the video description (once you’ve uploaded it to Youtube)
- All video in the AMV must be from an Anime so no Transformers, Avatar, South Park etc..
- No cheating, any submissions must be made by you
- and No Slide Shows
