Established in 1983, The Bettendorf Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds from the private sector to support library programs and services. Contributions to the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation enrich and empower the lives of library users today and in the future.
Public libraries in the United States rely on local and state tax dollars for daily operations. However, these funds often do not cover the “extras” that cater to community needs and interests, such as large-scale programming and capital improvements. That’s where library foundations step in. They secure funds through grants and individual and corporate donations to ensure the long-term stability of libraries.
To raise money to support, enhance, and preserve Bettendorf Public Library programs and services.
It is our vision to grow the endowment fund to assist in solidifying and ensuring the vibrant future of the Bettendorf Public Library. We will build strong relationships with many individuals, businesses, foundations, grantors, and community organizations to become the charity of choice for many.
While everyday operations of the public library are supported by local and state tax dollars, private gifts enable the library to enhance programs, facilities, and services to meet the community’s changing needs and interests.
Thanks to the generous support from the Bettendorf Library Foundation, the library continues to bring new and innovative services to the community. In the last few years, the library has expanded our ever-popular Summer Concert series with additional concert dates, added new equipment to our growing Creation Studio makerspace, purchased an outreach vehicle to expand library services to new audiences (catch us on the road in 2026!), and so much more.
Through donations from supporters like you, the library can strengthen its valuable resources and positively impact residents in Bettendorf and the greater Quad Cities. You can support your local library and help plan for a brighter future through the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation in several ways:
Annual Appeal: As we build our endowment, investment income is given to the library each year to fund one-time special projects or large-scale programs such as Global Gatherings and Discovery Fair.
Planned Giving: Including the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation in your estate plans invests in quality-of-life services and provides life-long learning opportunities for all ages.
Honorary Giving: An honorary donation to celebrate the special people and relationships in your life.
Memorial Giving: Create a lasting legacy for those who championed the mission and values of the Bettendorf Public Library.
