Book Shop Open in Library

In place of their semiannual book sale, the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library have opened a book shop in the coffee shop area of the library. The shop is open Mondays and Tuesdays 12:00-4:00 and Saturdays 11:00-3:00. Initially the shop will sell novels and paperback books at $1 and children's, chapter and teen books at 25¢-50¢ each.  Magazines will also be on sale in the shop for 20¢. There will be a large selection of these materials and all the proceeds of the sales will be used to support library programs.

Masks will be required and no more than ten customers may be in the shop at any time.

The Friends are currently accepting donations of magazines only.

Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library

The Friends are members of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Bettendorf Public Library. The Friends contribute to the purchase of books and materials, to Library programs for adults and children, and to other expenditures beyond the Library's budget.

Funds are raised through an annual membership drive, two Book Fairs each year, collection of used books and magazines for re-sale, owning
and operating a copier for Library patrons, and an annual Holiday Bazaar.

Meetings are held monthly at the Library, September through June, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

For more information about volunteering with the Friends, contact the Bettendorf Public Library Volunteer Coordinator. For questions about the book fairs or bazaar, contact the Administrative Assistant at 563-344-4177.

Friends memberships can be purchased at the Book Fairs, or at the Service Desk at the Library.  The application can be downloaded for printing here and mailed to the Library at 2950 Learning Campus Dr, Bettendorf, IA  52722.  Individual memberships are $5 and a family membership is $10.

If you are a current Friends member or have been in the past, you will receive a letter in February for the membership drive. Please consider joining the Friends for the 2020 year. If you are not a member and would like to support the Friends, information on joining is always available at the Library and at the monthly Friends Meetings. The Friends meet the first Tuesday of each month from September through June, at 7:00 p.m. in the Library. Whether you are a member or not, please consider attending a meeting to learn more. Joining the Friends is an affordable way to support the Library and grants you access to preview sales.
