An Exploration of Friendship, Reckoning, and Hope with novelist Shelby Van Pelt.

Through the Library Speakers Consortium, the Bettendorf Public Library offers virtual author talks each month. On Wednesday, August 21st, we invite you to join us—either at the library for a watch party or at home—for a chat with the amazing New York Times bestselling author Shelby Van Pelt as she talks about her beloved novel Remarkably Bright Creatures. You don’t want to miss this deep-dive exploration of friendship, reckoning, hope, and so much more!

Remarkably Bright Creatures is a luminous debut novel about a widow’s unlikely friendship with a giant Pacific octopus reluctantly residing at the local aquarium—and the truths she finally uncovers about her son’s disappearance 30 years ago.

You can join this conversation in one of two ways:

  1. Register at https://libraryc.org/bettendorflibrary/53364. By registering, you will be provided with a webinar link for viewing the program. Registering also allows you to submit questions for Shelby Van Pelt, which will be answered as time permits.
  2. Come to the Bettendorf Public Library to watch this event—no need to register!

You can register for other upcoming author talks, or view past recordings, at libraryc.org/bettendorflibrary For additional information, please call 563-344-4179.
