It’s 1857 in Peoria, Illinois. Lucy Pettengill and her fellow abolitionists encounter struggles while assisting freedom seekers on their way north. The work is secret, dangerous . . . and you’re invited to hear all about it. 

Join Laura Keyes of Historic Voices as Lucy Pettengill, Peoria, IL, resident and Underground Railroad station operator, for this deeply moving presentation about the abolitionist movements and actions in Western Illinois. 

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library and is best suited for ages 12 to adult.
